I'm baffled by the people who don't understand the second half. The lyrics in the first half literally explain it.
"This feeling is ancient"
>Ends on an ancient ritual sacrifice happening.
"Human connection"
>Imagery of a bunch of blue folks mashed together, as well as a dude with a parasite blue dude inside his stomach, also stabbing in Shakespearean prose was referred to as "connecting with a knife"
"3/4/5 digit number where your name is"
>Number of victims
"Wanna be famous" (as well as the imagery of the YouTube play button)
>Equating to the ancient urge to gain 'followers' for cults and rituals as far back as ancient Aztec times
This flows pretty perfectly from start to finish, showing that even today our celebrity influencers are convincing children to follow them on hopes and dreams of one day being the one generating fame and followers, which is something that humans have always done. Brainwash the masses, convince them to follow us, give them hopes/dreams/promises when in truth you're just in it for personal gain.
The end, showing him holding up the newborn blue dude parasite is a literal "Behold, the next famous person" moment. An actual parasite, literally, pulled out of a suffering 'follower' and showed to the masses of other followers (who are climbing the walls trying to be the next famous person).
I think this is a fantastic portrayal of the cycle of fame.
